Community Showcase
Community Showcase

Come and enjoy a wonderful day of music from local musicians in the lovely gardens of Grantham House.
The event is free to attend. Any donations will be welcome and will be split between St Wulfram's Church and the National Trust at Grantham House.
Food and refreshments available from the National Trust Cafe.

We are proud to be announcing due to the high numbers of musical sign-ups, the Community Showcase will now be starting earlier and ending later, running from 10:30 – 16:30 on Sunday 24 of August. We also have the pleasure of introducing our performers, starting with the duo Carpe Diem, cello soloist Martha Jones, and the Choristers of St Wulfram’s Church Choir!
First up are "Carpe Diem", a musical duo comprising Fi Pear on harmony and lead vocals, bass guitar and harmonica, along with Mark Hickman playing electro/acoustic guitar together with lead and harmony vocals. Their set has a range of songs appealing to all ages and musical tastes; expect to hear songs by the likes of Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, The Mamas and the Papas, Supertramp, The Levellers, Neil Young, Beautiful South, Jason Mraz, Amy MacDonald and many more. A secure mix of soft, laid back and exciting up-beat tunes!
We are also thrilled to welcome Nottingham cellist Martha Jones, who has a keen interest in orchestral and chamber music. While currently a member of the Youth section of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, she performs with ensembles, quartets, as well as Trent Chamber Orchestra in West Bridgford, hoping to pursue a career in cello performance. With a passion for exploring a wide array of repertoire - solo, chamber, or orchestral works - Martha endeavours to bring nuance, warmth, and an adventurous spirit to her playing. She enjoys the freedom and possibilities for interpretation in folk music while maintaining a love for more ‘traditional’ Baroque and Romantic works.
We have representatives of St Wulfram’s Church Choir, their choristers will be singing under the direction of Tim Williams, Director of Music. Showing off repertoire from their recent trip to Stratford upon Avon, the choristers of St Wulfram’s Church are a busy choral community of children, forming an integral part of a nationally renowned church choir. The choir will be preparing for another trip to Westminster Abbey on the 26, and are always welcoming new members, proud of their status as a welcoming, diverse, non-auditioning choir continuing an unbroken centuries old tradition, and building it as a legacy for future generations.
